DIN EN ISO 9906 specifies tests of hydraulic performance for the acceptance of centrifugal pumps and applies to pumps of all sizes handling liquids that behave like pure cold water. It defines three acceptance classes (1B, 1E, 1U with tight tolerances; 2B, 2U with wider tolerances; 3B with the widest tolerances) and is relevant for fire pump test stands.

Acceptance Classes

  • Class 1: Tight tolerances for precise performance guarantees (e.g., for special-purpose pumps).

  • Class 2: Wider tolerances for production pumps.

  • Class 3: Maximum tolerances for standard acceptance inspections.

Current Version

The current edition is DIN EN ISO 9906:2013-03, which replaces DIN EN ISO 9906:2002-08 and expands upon the classes, definitions, and annexes regarding test arrangements and certified tests. It facilitates compliance with the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
